Cobh town was changed to Queenstown when Queen Victoria visited here in 1861, and was renamed Cobh when it became Independent in 1922. It’s natural harbour is the second largest natural harbour in the world, many thousands of emigrants left from here in the past as they sailed across the Atlantic to America. Today many cruise liners visit Cobh on a regular basis as a Port of Call.
